- Edenmore Early Education Centre was set up in 1975 by the Poor Servants of the Mother of God to support vulnerable families in their parenting role we were located in St Gabriel’s Convent on Glenayle Road.
- In 1990 a Board of Management was set up to continue to run the Centre after the sisters moved on, we then moved to the annex building in St Monica’s infant girls school in Edenmore.
- In 2010 we received funding from the National Childcare Investment Programme to build a purpose built facility. In 2011 the Minister for Children Francis Fitzgerald officially opened our wonderful new building.
- The Centre is funded by the child and family agency Tulsa and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs

About Us
We at Edenmore Early Education Centre provide rich learning and care environments with a view to nurture relationships and support children’s learning and development. We use an emergent and inquiry based curriculum underpinned by the principles of Aistear and Síolta. We believe that every child comes with their own knowledge set and unique identity, and that our role as educator and carer is to respect the child as they are and bring them on a journey of learning and discovery about themselves and the world around them. It is also very important that we advocate for children’s rights.
Our children have holistic experiences and processes within an environment reflective of their identity, interests and needs. Play is central to all our activities which can be both child led and adult guided based on observations of the children’s development, their needs and their interests.
We cater for up to 60 children from 2 years to 6 years. We have pre-school groups where we offer ECCE (the free preschool year) and sessional play groups for younger children. We also participate in the National Childcare Scheme (NCS).

- We provide hot home cooked meals
- Children do not need to be toilet trained
- We facilitate assessments for children with additional needs
- Our service is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm
- Preschool ECCE hours 8.45am to 11.45am and 9am – 12pm
- Optional hours for ECCE/preschool children only (8.45am group)11.45am to 2.15pm and (9am group) 12pm – 2.30pm.
Our service is part funded by Tusla the child and family agency and The Department of Children and Youth Affairs therefore fees are subsidised.
- ECCE free school place. We operate the ECCE programme for 3 hours per day, 5 days per week for 38 weeks which amounts to 183 open days. This service is free of charge. Under the ECCE programme, additional weeks outside of the 38 week model are optional in sessional services, however because our service provides a full/part time day care service fees are charged on a monthly basis for 41 weeks rather than 38 weeks. Therefore there is a once of fee of €300 or €30 for 10 months.
- Optional hours for preschool children €230 per month
- Baby Stay & Play €5 once off payment for 6 weeks or a donation.
