Are you looking to volunteer with a Charity organisation where your skills and knowledge will contribute to quality service provision for young children and families?

 

Are you interested in contributing to the on-going provision and development of quality early education, care, early intervention, prevention and family support?

 

If so, Edenmore Early Education Centre is a well-established not-for profit organisation that achieves high standards of early education and family support and are continuing to progress and develop its practices.

 

We are looking for Board Members to join our already effective Board, in order to diversify the experiences, skills and knowledge base of our Board and contribute to our development of service provision.

 

We are particularly looking for a Chairperson who can effectively Chair meetings and support good governance.

 

More about us:

Edenmore Early Education Centre is a not-for-profit early education and family support organisation. We provide early education to children from ages 2 – 6 years, and provide a range of services including family support, parenting programmes, baby and toddler playgroups and work closely with local agencies and organisations. 

 

Our Centre is part funded by Tusla Child and Family Agency and The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth. We are a registered with the Charities regulator as a charity organisation.

 

The voluntary board currently consists of 6 members, including the Manager of the Early Education Centre and a staff representative. The Board is responsible for ensuring that the organisation is operating in line with governance requirements, to provide guidance and leadership to the staff at Edenmore EEC to achieve their goals and objectives.  We are seeking a Chairperson to join our Board of Management along with general members.

 

 

Duties of a Board Member

Attend quarterly Board Meetings

Offering guidance and expertise to ensure we are working in-line with our charitable ethos, mission statement and Governance code.

Contributing to decision making on issues that affect the Governance of the organisation.

Acting in the best interest of the organisation.

 

 

Duties of the Chairperson are as follows:

Reviews the agenda with the Manager to ensure its suitability.

Ensures the meetings function well by navigating the agenda and facilitating effective discussion.

Brings impartiality and objectivity to meetings and decision making.

Advocates for and represent the organisation at external meetings and events if possible.

To support the Manager and Board in completion of regulation or funding requirements when needed.

 

 

Qualities and skills required overall:

  • A genuine interest in supporting families, early education, early intervention and prevention
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidences
  • Ability to support decision making and following up on decisions
  • Good timekeeping
  • Tact and diplomacy
  • Understanding of the roles/responsibilities of a governing body

 

 

Board Meetings:

There will be 4 board meetings per school term (September – June). Meetings are currently held on site at Edenmore EEC in Dublin 5, but we also support blended meetings (where a person can join via Zoom)
